At the center of the captivating rolling hills, lived a boy named Shepherd. His being was essentially unadulterated, simple, and honest. His only responsibility was to tend to his flock of sheep.

One afternoon he ran into the village yelling “Wolf! A wolf is preying on my sheep!” The terrified villagers ran up the hills to help but saw nothing threatening.

The boy chuckled at the dilemma on their faces. This trick persisted for a few days more. But, one day, a real wolf actually charge at the herd. The shepherd boy ran for help, screaming “Wolf, Wolf!” But this time, no one responded.

Frustrated and alone, the boy battled against the wolf but managed to protect only few of his flock. Heartbroken, he went back to the village only to receive a lesson on honesty and the results of dishonesty.

The story of this shepherd boy has been transmitted generations as a mediaeval parable to teaching the importance of honesty, the implications of here dishonesty and the risks of false alarms. Moreover, it highlights how trust once violated, is hard to regain. It's a story as appropriate today as it was then.
